The mission of Minneapolis MOSAIC is to celebrate the richness and diversity of the arts and cultures of Minneapolis. The success of Minneapolis MOSAIC is realized by accomplishing four goals:
- Presenting events to showcase the rich diversity of music, dance, theater, the visual arts, film and the literary arts in Minneapolis.
- Promoting and increasing the visibility of the broad range of cultural and arts organizations and events in Minneapolis to both local and regional audiences
- Fostering opportunities to develop new relationships and build bridges between the wide variety of arts organizations and cultural groups in Minneapolis
- Encouraging our diverse community to experience a wide spectrum of cultural and artistic activities in Minneapolis
Minneapolis MOSAIC's first eight years were very successful. In 2011, Minneapolis MOSAIC will continue a focus on MPLS TLNT SHW!, a talent show featuring the diverse and talented youth (ages 13 - 18) of Minneapolis. The preliminary talent shows will take place throughout April and May at the Capri Theater in NE Minneapolis, Parkway Theater in South Minneapolis and the downtown Central Library - check back for dates and times. One finalist from each of the 11 Minneapolis neighborhoods will be invited to perform at the final event held at the Pantages Theatre on June 4, where a 1st, 2nd and 3rd place will receive a cash prize courtesy of the Edward R Bazinet Village Scholars Program.
Minneapolis MOSAIC will also feature the annual commission piece, Fusion of the arts. For more information, click on the Commission page.
